The National Organization for Victim Advocacy (NOVA) is a recognized leader in the victims' rights movement. Since 1975, NOVA has advocated for the advancement and enforcement of victims' rights; championed dignity and compassion for victims and survivors of crime and crisis; and promoted the professionalization of victim advocacy.

About NOVA's Annual Training Event
For the past 50 years NOVA has hosted a professional training event across the U.S. bringing together over 60,000 advocates and victim service professionals. NOVA anticipates attendance of 2,000+ attendees at the upcoming training event, the majority of whom will include, but not be limited to, victims of crime, victim advocates, student advocates, first responders, sexual assault and domestic violence advocates, prosecutors, judges, social workers, and other allied professionals working in both military and civilian agencies worldwide.
NOVA welcomes innovative RFPs that focus on advancing the field of victim advocacy. NOVA is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and is seeking workshops that apply trauma-informed practices through a culturally responsive lens. Presenters will be asked to incorporate a wide variety of adult learning principles to promote interactive and accessible learning.
The Training Event will make use of a variety of learning formats, including approximately 100 workshops and general session keynote addresses all with a focus on trauma-informed approaches, culturally responsive strategies, and self-care for professionals in the field of victim advocacy.
- Questions about the RFP must be sent by email to conference@trynova.org with the subject line, "RFP Assistance," no later than 3:00pm ET on Thursday, October 24th, 2024. Inquiries may be sent in English or Spanish. NOVA has bilingual staff that can assist.
- All workshop proposals must be submitted by 5:00pm ET on Thursday, October 31st.
- The proposal must be submitted before it closes in order to be considered - please allow enough time to complete and submit the form if starting it near the deadline.
- Once the form has been started it must be completed as progress cannot be saved.
- If selected, speakers must confirm their acceptance within one week of receiving the acceptance email.
- If selected, speakers will be required to submit their final slides by Thursday, May 22nd, 2025 which must:
- Include, at minimum, the opening and closing slides from the template provided by NOVA
- Include the accessibility statement provided by NOVA
- Adhere to the accessibility guidelines provided by NOVA
- Confirmed selected speakers will be required to attend one of the below virtual speaker orientations:
- Tuesday, February 18th, 2025 from 3:00-4:00pm Eastern Time
- Thursday, March 13th, 2025 from 10:00-11:00am Eastern Time
- All workshop rooms are set up in theater style seating. Chairs cannot be moved and no tables are provided.
- Please keep this in mind if you are planning an interactive workshop.
- Each workshop room has a capacity of 100-300 seats.
- Each workshop room will be equipped with a laptop, projector, two microphones for accessibility purposes, external computer speakers, projection screen, and all related cables.
- Presenters may not use their own laptop/devices and must use the laptops provided by the conference AV team.

- While there is no limit on the number of workshop proposals that can be submitted, NOVA may only accept one workshop proposal per agency/organization due to the limited number of workshop slots.
Speakers whose proposals are accepted can expect:
- A complimentary one-year NOVA Membership
- A complimentary registration (100% discount) to the entire conference and a 50% discount on registration for up to one co-presenter
- A wide range of exposure to attendees, and by extension to their organizations located worldwide
- Listings on the NOVA Annual Training Event website, the NOVA mobile app, and NOVA's social media
- If not otherwise registered for the full period, the ability to participate in all Training Event activities, free of charge on the day(s) of their presentation(s)
General Information
- Please address any questions about this Request for Proposals (RFP) for NOVA’s Annual Training Event Speakers by email, no later than 3:00 p.m. (ET), Wednesday, October 24th, 2024 to conference@trynova.org with the subject line, “RFP Assistance.”
- NOVA promotes diversity in all its endeavors, and as a result, qualified persons are encouraged to submit requests for proposals to present a workshop at the Annual Training Event. NOVA does not discriminate against individuals because of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, familial status, or national origin.
- NOVA’s Annual Training Event concurrent breakout workshops are scheduled ninety-minutes (1.5 hours) in length with rooms set up auditorium style, seating 100-300 attendees in a workshop room. All workshop rooms will include chairs with designated seats and areas for accessibility. There will be no table set up available for group discussions in the workshop rooms.
- Completed Request for Proposals are due through the online submission form only no later than 5:00 p.m. (ET), Thursday, October 31st, 2024. NOVA reserves the right to select proposals that, in its sole discretion, meet the planned events of the Annual Training Event as well as the criteria set forth within this RFP.
- All speakers who submit proposals will be notified of the results of this solicitation in January 2025.
RFP Review Process & Considerations
Applications will be reviewed by a committee of subject-matter experts and victim advocates and will be ranked based on the applicant's ability to thoroughly and effectively abide by the guidelines set forth in the RFP, connect workshop content to the focus areas and field of victim advocacy & crisis response, and clearly portray the goals and objectives of the workshop.
NOVA encourages speakers to submit workshop proposals that focus on advancing the field of victim advocacy and center the needs of diverse and underserved populations.
All applicants will be notified via email in January 2025.
Due to the high volume of RFP applications, NOVA staff are not able to provide status updates or direct consultation to assist with developing the RFP application.

Timelines and Terms
The selected NOVA Annual Training Event Speaker is asked to consider the following provisions:
- NOVA is committed to upholding excellence in the field of victim advocacy and crisis response by providing trauma-informed training, education and credentialing to all victim assistance and allied professionals. Our training programs are created to promote a standard of knowledge among those interacting with victim/survivors of trauma and to ensure each victim/survivor receives a level of care and respect that empowers and promotes their wellbeing. By sharing your expertise, you make a valuable contribution to the profession's field of knowledge and to the individual learning of our participants. If you are selected, please view this opportunity as a commitment like any other and ensure that you are able to deliver the session by securing the support of your organization and managing your workload and clients to keep this time open. Should there be any unexpected change in your plans, we appreciate advance notice in the event that circumstances prevent your attendance.
- Agreement to Perform Conference Speaking Services. The dates, timelines, and terms of the Training Event speaking engagement will be outlined and confirmed in writing by NOVA to selected offerors after proposals are selected.
- Presenters are required to attend one speaker orientation
- Presenters are required to register as a presenter before the deadline for the early bird rate which will be shared upon acceptance
- Presenters are required to submit their final workshop slides including any other content that will be shared with attendees (i.e. handouts) by Thursday, May 22nd, 2025.
- Failure to adhere to these requirements may result in not being accepted to present at future NOVA conferences and/or could be bumped from 2025 conference
- Pro Bono Publico. Presenters selected through this proposal process must be willing to provide their services and expertise pro bono publico (without expectation of payment) for the good of those in attendance who have committed themselves to providing victim services and in support of the goals and objectives of the NOVA Annual Training Event.
- Non-solicitation. Marketing and sales to attendees may only be conducted in the Vendor Exhibition area if the Conference Speaker has also contracted to procure a booth. Conference presentations must not be used as a platform to promote and sell products or services including books, fee-based training materials and/or curricula, or software.
